Steve Parrish
Steve Parrish must be the most versatile petrol head in the world, having started out driving motorcycles and cars around his father's small farm at the age of 9.
Steve turned professional motor cycle racer in 1976 at the age of 22, joining Barry Sheene in the Suzuki GP team and subsequently taking 5th place in the 500cc World Championship in 1977. In 1978 and 1979 he clinched the British Motor Cycle Championships, and then in 1980 he joined Yamaha - winning many European and British races. Steve retired from two-wheel riding in 1986 and managed the UK Yamaha Superbike Team, taking three British titles, before venturing into truck racing in 1984 where he became the most successful truck racer in history taking 5 world titles. Steve now commentates for the BBC on the MotoGP championship and conducts various race bike tests.
